Passione Gelateria and Desert Bar is the latest addition to the restaurants, cafes and bars at the London Woolstores in Teneriffe. Yes, I now have an ice cream bar within walking distance of my home – my waistline is about to expand!
And if you were just thinking – ‘It’s winter, not really ice cream weather’ – don’t fret. Although outdoors, Passione has heaters and is undercover. Plus they also serve waffles, cakes, canoli, coffee, cocktails, tapas and other hot drinks.
However, my love affair is with the ice cream though, particularly their sundaes or coppas. The options begin at around $9 with the children’s options and go all the way to $120. Yes you are reading right, that is not a typo. Its called Coppa D’oro (gold) which I believe contains 12 different flavours as well as edible gold. I haven’t tried it yet but if there are 6 or 8 of you that would like to join forces I would be more than happy to!
What I did try though is the Coppa Tiramisu (pictured) which had three ice cream scoops: Coffee, Tiramisu, Vanilla; as well as cream, chocolate sauce and sponge fingers. It is a rather largish portion so best shared. I did think it was too big for two of us to get through, but I was wrong. The glass was returned relatively clean.Another tried and tested option is the Coppa Tre Noci which again contains three scoops: Madadamia, walnut and vanilla.
As any good ice cream bar you can also grab scoops in cups and cones. A good option for that after drinks hunger pangs, particularly from one of the many wine bars and pubs in the area!
